I should be doing work...

Lalala. So much work these days, its like, I finish something and they immediately give me something twice that amount to do for the next day. :/ So needless to say, this rather unviewed blog had been unupdated. So what's going on? Well... I lost 4 chess games in the last two days. -_- Haven't been too lucky these days eh?
Gonna go on an Anime hiatus... not quitting, just waiting until there's time to watch them all at one time.
Oh! Mathology and Mathophysics! These are awesome subjects! Well, actually, just Mathology. Lets just say this. I see myself as a Mathologist, while I see practically everyone else in my class as Mathophysists. AND BEST OF ALL, IT EXPLAINS THE ENIGMA OF WHY I DON'T LIKE PHYSICS BUT LOVE MATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HURRAY MATHOLOGY!!!!!!!!!!!!
i'll comment more when I find time to write and think. :P -Thomas

Music & Math

"May not Music be described as the Mathematics of sense, and Mathematics as the Music of reason?"
- J. J. Sylvester

Wow. This is an incredible quote, and you have no idea how much I think this quote applies to me. First off, on surface areas, I can see how Math and Music relate. When looking at notes, they are divided into fractions, even using fractional terms. I often make errors in math, and I do that in music while playing also. (Ok, that's not exactly good but...) Indeed, if it weren't for the difference in emotion and reason, Math and Music might as well be the same thing.
However, They're not, but they still can fall into the same category only with different ways of knowing. Amazing isn't it, how they can be so similar but different from this "way of knowing"? When I play the piano, I must feel emotionally into it in order to play it correctly. When I do math, I must think logically in order to work it out correctly. Its amazing, I don't know why I didn't think of the two relating to each other more other than a superficial view.
>.> Music is becoming a really big part in life, isn't it? What's next? Music and Science? Music and History?

Probably not as farfetched as it may sound. :P
O yea. Chess interviews. Haha, I'll get to that.
- Engi & Thomas, the line which borders and connects the two sides.

Pleasure, Money, and Family

Here is a very problematic dilemma that I face with anime and music... perhaps the only materialistic "wants" in my life. (Ok, so internet counts too, but that comes along with references, communication, and a whole lot of other things) What I'm talking about is the legitimacy of downloading music and anime. And this is exactly my point of view from it. -Guai
First off, I do not want to cause any company any "harm" by deliberately downloading anime and not buying their material. I believe that people have a right to earn money from the things they made, and to just take them for free is rather not nice. However, this is a hypocritical statement; if I believe its that wrong, why do I still download anime and music? Granted, they're from a foriegn country, but hey, there are places like yesasia.com where I can buy them legit. I could use the "I don't have the money" excuse, but in reality, I could just ask my parents like everyone else does. In fact, my parents consider me as too conservative, not wanting to spend or squander any money if its not worth it. -Thomas
But it is exactly my family that is on the other balance against morality of supporting the businesses. Either its supporting my family buy respecting and not spending any money, or giving business an honest deal. I am extremely against spending my parent's money because they already spend so much money just raising me, without the extra "wants". I really want to support them as much as I can to show my gratitude. -Engi
If it is possible, I would adjust the chemical makeup in my brain to forget about these materialistic pleasures If I could. It would save so much trouble. But alas, these three sides continue to fight because of this, and I feel like I'm in a mess.
Thank you for listening to my boring rant. If you didn't read it at all, :P.

Sal2 and Horses.

*chess game*
TMB: Stupid Horse?
Sal2: No.
Sal2: Considering options.
...
TMB: Stupid horse?
Sal2: I hate knights.

Ok, so it wasn't that funny. But I thought it was. XD

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien

Hmmm... another lovey dovey anime, only this one's actually serious. :/ Well I have to tell you, the animation does look very nice. I think the characters are nicely drawn... but well... I guess Love stories aren't my type. It could be tha because I never experienced anything like that kinda stuff before so I wouldn't know, but then again this is very cliche, predictable, and boring.
...
I'm probably going to drop it. :o.
-??? (I'll get him a name soon! I promise!)

Gunslinger Girls

Ah, this is a pretty good anime. Violent, but anime violence somehow is much milder than realistic movie violence, so it seems fine with me. A Mafia anime, which is something new (they're actually using Italian!), but what's more intriguing is the concept of their brainwashing, which, strangely enough, coincides nearly directly with my recent theory on whether the human mind is simple enough to be (sometime in the future) controlled my machines. Already I've been thinking it through, and apparently in Biopsychology, there are sections of the brain which control different functions... if it is possible to figure out how these sections work, it just may be possible to create an artificial device to control involantary junctions, like nerve recepting (pain), hormone distribution (emotion), and muscle control around places such as lungs and stomach. If that were possible... what would the possiblities be?
...Some people would see a character I've made: Ruby.
In any case, its been lingering in my mind. If I get it developed enough, I might post a little story on this blog based off this theory, and its side effects (emotional overcontrol and discrimination, mainly).
Ah yea, I adjusted the font so that PMA's mini-font can view it.

"Hiroshima" by John Hersey

An extremely emotional and beautiful book.
This book alone beats Scarlet Letter and any other previous book I've read in English. This is the true portrayal of humanity, people. Warring against each other, gruesome details, emotional ties between family, between country and people... The way Hersey writes this book and portrays the Japanese is the essence of humanity. Weak yet strong, pathetic yet enduring, ignorant yet intelligent.
You look at what America did about their Pearl Harbor: They publicized it and made it into a movie. I bet a couple days from now September 11th will be a love story too.
Its also interesting to know how Americans acted on Sept. 11th: panicked, like ants when their colony becomes disturbed, running all over the place, just trying to get away. Compare this to how the Japanese are portrayed in Hiroshima: calm, those without serious injuries aiding those with more serious wounds, and heck, their situation is a great deal more dire. I'm not trying to offend anyone at New York during the crash; I'm just stating how different the experience at Hiroshima was to our culture. May it be up to you to determine which is better.
I added some info on personalities: basically, all their specialties combined will form the blog writeups you see here. In this case Emotion impact was greatest, following into Percieving the differences of America and Japan and creating an opinion on it, supported by Reasonable facts. And of course, ol' mr. Communications is the one typing it out to you and making the argument look good. In reality, these characters are always one, always me. However, for more simplistic purposes, I will usually from now on associate a blog with one of my characters. And yes, the facets stem from philosophy and Theory of Knowledge. :P

Scrapped Princess

A darn decent show, I must say. Doesn't have enough to make it on "one my favs" list, but good show nonetheless. "Worthy of wasting your time on", as some would say.
The plot twists were incredible, and truly for the first half, maybe over a little, of the series you canNOT tell what's going on, or what's gonna happen in the next episode. I give it good points in that sense. But when you figure out the theme, its rather cliched. The emotional aspect of the show wasn't as strong as, say, FMwS or Stellvia in my opinion, but its enough to well... feel sorry for them.
And of course, humanity in this show in its overall clichedness is viewed a stupid worthless selfish beings (and no, I'm not a peacemaker). Ah, but I must admit that the battle scenes are one of the best I've seen yet! (That's not saying much; I don't watch a lot of fighting anime) The characters were also pretty cool, especially the Silencer and BUG tricks... THOSE ARE AWESOME!!! Beware of Engi's knotes, or keyboard knives; they shall now have some skills based off of those BUGs. :P

note: Cstudnicka is Sal2, but not always Sal2.

CSTUDNICKA: move 36 for white, pa coulda won
TheMysteriousBox: PA coulda won a lot of times.

Music & English

Scary! I can do commentary on music!
It seems to be a lot like how people can interpret poetry. I can listen to music (that's melodic/harmonic, not those rock type music) and I can interpret emotional feeling and interpretation not just from the overall music but from different instruments. Its usually just a difference between melody and harmony, but still. For example, in this one piece of music, I can tell the harmonic background is gloomy and melancholy while the main violin melody hints at the strength of endurance, to be isolated from the rest of the crowd from its bright and significantly louder playing, though the tone of the melody is still quite depressing. However, there is this sense of hope within this piece of music.

Coffee!!!

...is not what it appears.
You know what's strange? ADHD medication is a stimulant. This means that if a non-ADHD person takes the medication, he'll act like an ADHD person. And vice versa. Guess what Coffee does to me. Yup. It paralyzes me. Well, not literally but, I feel like I can't move after I drank coffee for a while. It doesn't feel good. I am naturally caffinated. But some how if I drink something like Coke, I get rather sluggish. At least, compared to my usual self. Caffine seems to have an inverse effect on me. Its like my other rather hyperactive friend: if he doesn't have sugar, boy does his hyperactive state go up.
PMA ran into some font problems with my site. My site runs in percentage-wise fonts, meaning its based off the original h1, h2, etc. fonts only with x% the size of the original. In other words, read my blog in medium sized text under the view menu, dangit!
Thomas- I have two orals next week! (presentations)
Box (later to be known as Guai)- I also have to finish Scrapped Princess
Engi- Who knows when I have my Piano performance!

Eer... more explanations on these characters on the side tables... coming soon... eventually..

Music

Music.
Music is blissful. So is sleep. But that will be for another speech. Playing on the Piano can be relaxing... when you're playing it right. Otherwise it can be frustrating. Listening to music is always a great way to relax. However, despite me being a extremely musical person, I cannot think when music is on. Its like Music kills brain cells or something. I become so... dumb when I'm listening to music. Not dumb as in retarded, I'm typing this and listening to music. More like, I can't concentrate and my mind wanders... (another speech in the future). In any case, music is sort of like drugs. You take it to feel relaxed, but you can't do ANYTHING while playing music. Withdrawals include songs stuck in your head and thus continue not being able to do anything. And Insomnia. Occurs frequently, especially since I listen at nighttime before bed. I'll be awake in my bed for a while today...

Look at the pwetty tables! I can do SO MUCH WITH THIS I FEEL SO HAPPY... Ok More will come...eventually.

EDIT: COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL TITLES!!!!!!!!!!!

LOVE TRIANGLE!!!!!

I had to post this. XD
English is vile.
Its not truly English. They call it English, but in reality its Literature Analysis. Why can't they just be direct and call it Literature Analysis? Hey, Math does that: There's Calculus, Algebra, Geometry, etc. Science has Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and so on. Even History has World, European, and US History. But English is just English. Not only that, but it's not even real English; its a bunch of works that happen to be in English or otherwise translated into English that we have to read and such. Symbolism isn't just in the English language, dangit; other countries use symbolism too. Heck, a person I know who just came from China a couple days ago doesn't know English very well enough to read long stories and poems, but I'm sure if she had a translation of the novel and the questions, she would be able to do them just as well as a high honors class student.
English is misnamed and useless. I learned the language English already. I really have no use at all for Literature Analysis, I'm sorry.
Tables a vile too. But I'm too tired to deal with them really for today. I'm leaving it in this funny state until I feel like working on HTML again.

7.10.03

Just to make this blog look historic, my personal opinions on the candidates of Recall Day in California, October 7th, 2003.

Davis- The poor, victimized governor that is being recalled. Seriously, he only tried to help California; the teacher's weren't complaining when he increased pay and school budget a few years earlier yes?
Bustemente- It just may be me and I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but I dont' trust a short fat Mexican in the governor's office too much... again, sorry if I offended anyone. Also, The whole fact that he's running IN CASE the recall is done... backstabber...
McClintok- I heard he was like Bush. :/
Schwarzenegger- "Communism is bad. Marx is evil." You freakin' politically inept strong man. And he's winning too. We're gonna be terminated.
Pryce or Watts- COLLEGE PRIDE!!! CHEM INSTRUCTOR OR COLLEGE STUDENTS IN OFFICE NOW!!!!

Welcome to the first Outtadabox (c) sponsered ASBV Chess Interviews, including exclusive coverage and analysis on each and every known ASB Vet that still manages to have contact with the ASBV society! These Interviews, with each player having a post to themselves in the future, will give an in depth look into the style, tactics, stengths, weaknesses, and personalities of the player; it can give you a good overview of what type of opponent you may be playing the next time you challenge one to a chess game!
Disclaimer: All the synopsises and interviews are based off the perspective of one ASBer, unless indicated, and that is... moi. Obviously. Whether there was some unseen trick about a character that I had never known about, or whether that guy was smart enough to change his tactics, you can't blame me for not telling you.
For starters, let's have a basic overview of each person, giving their ASB Vet name, main strategic strength, a memorable quote (chosen from moi, unless you guys want to submit one) , their strength piece (In which a queen will not count :P That's cheating), and their weak piece. Starting off with... Me!

themysteriousbox- Works well in timed games.
"I CAN'T WIN WITH A BISHOP DANGIT" Situation: TMB with 2 bishops and a king; cannot manage to get opponent into checkmate
SP: Rook || WP: Bishop

Pokemaster Ash- Keeps opponent on the defensive by constantly checking king.
"Well, I had the upper hand" PMA had two queens and the opponent's king was squished in the middle of them. And, they were on the first three rows. Somehow, the opponent managed to achieve (or rather, PMA managed to fluke) a stalemate.
SP: Knight || WP: Rook

Sal2- Devours each piece individually.
"YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO SEE THAT YOU FOOL" Opponent's pawn became a queen.
SP: Bishop || WP: Knight

RiOrius- Strong in evasion of check/checkmates.
"I don't think it's possible to check with just a rook and king." Seconds later, in one turn, became checkmated by King and Rook.
SP: King || WP: Bishop

Prof Jb. Wolf- Great Wall of Pawns.
"YARGH!!!" "..." Self-explanatory
SP: Pawn || WP: King (Note: he's really quite... even on every piece)

tygerofthenyte: Keeps kings where they are until the final blow.
"Either you're unusually cruel or incredibly stupid." Said after his opponent missed approximately 4 times in checkmating him
SP: Knight || WP: Pawn (Again, to my observation, he is mostly evened out, though there might be slight polarities on these pieces)

Rhydon4: Quick, stealthy checkmates.
"That Damn [pawn]!!" Pawn is said in Russian.
SP: Bishop || WP: Pawn

Misagi: ???
??? (More will be known as soon as I play him :P)

pokemaniacbill: High potential in acquiring future skills. (He's good at learning.)
"...you've got to be frickin kidding me." Opponent had potential to eliminate queen with queen. Vice versa happens, apparently.
SP: Bishop || WP: Knight
That's it for now. I'll post more after a few more random rants and when I'm done working on these tables... Lessee... *takes out hammer and nails out of toolbox*... Naa... *throws them away and takes out a pickaxe*... Nope... *throws it away and takes out a saw*... Mmmm... something else... *throws it away and takes out a chainsaw* There we go.

*BRRRRRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM*

5.10.03

Hum hum. First thoughts.
Happy World, other than the unnecessary ecchi scenes, is a relaxing anime to watch. Its quite random and comical, which is usually too common in most anime, but for a stressful filled life it can be fun to watch anime like these. Its animation is very nice. The theme is much like any other theme, though the third episode theme I haven't seen much; plot is mediocre. However, It was fun to watch. Wee. ^-^
Colors. I'm still playing with them, and yes, I have poor choice is colors. Deal with it. :P
*plays with colors*

4.10.03

Interesting. I'm trying this thing out, See what I can do here. Voila!

EDIT: Alright fine. I'll try doing this. >.> Not what I was expecting, but i guess it could work for time being. This isn't gonna be anything personal; just random writings. So shoo! shoo! You're not getting much about ME from this blog.
Now. To learn more about this thingy...
