Disorder Test!

Sorry for the lack of updates. With Ragnarok, Anime, and Manga all around me, there's never a lack of things I don't want to do, and since writing fics and battle stuff isn't exactly on the top of my list, so goes blog entries. However, I do post because I found a cool disorder test! I'm so disordered!!! :D

A Chemistry Lab

xxPastel STARxx: wanna read my write up?

xxPastel STARxx: this is the research part of my lab
TheMysteriousBox: *shrug*
xxPastel STARxx: Once upon a time, there lived an evil Queen who suffered from really bad stomach pains. One day, his stomach pains were especially painful. So he called forth the evil black mage and his apprentice that were studying Alchemy.
“Why have you called me, O great queen?” asked the mage.
“I am suffering greatly because of these pains in my stomach. Why is that so?” asked the queen.
“I believe you have too much HCl in your system,” replied the mage.
“Whatever that is, give me the best cure, or else I shall behead you! And I want this in less than an hour because you neglected to do this research earlier,” said the queen
“Yes, your majesty,” bowed the mage and his apprentice.
While leaving the Royal Hall, the apprentice asked,” How do you plan to reduce the HCl in her majesty’s body?”
“HCl is an acid, and all we need to do is find the right combination of bases in order to neutralize it,” replied the mage,” As the ancient alchemy book says, ‘a neutralization reaction is a reaction in which an acid and a base react in an aqueous solution to produce a salt and water’.”
The evil mage and his apprentice went deep, deep, down, down, to the deepest, downest part of the evil castle where the evil laboratory was.

xxPastel STARxx: it's a picture book
TheMysteriousBox: ...
xxPastel STARxx: so i'm sending it to you page by page without the pictures :p

xxPastel STARxx: Inside the evil dungeon laboratory, the mage took out two evil poisons called Tums and Gaviscan. The mage explained to the apprentice his reasoning.
“Tums contains CaCO3 and Gaviscan contains Al(OH)3 and MgCO3. Since they are both bases, theoretically, they should neutralize her majesty’s excessive HCl. Also note that these bases are called antacids. Why is that you ask? Well, first of all although they are indeed bases, their sole purpose is to reduce EXCESS acids in the stomach. It is essential that the stomach has HCl and gastric acids or else food would not be able to digest. Now, go get me two 100 mL beakers, a 25 mL graduated cylinder, a buret, as well as a mortar and pestle. I shall get the 1.6 mL of 6.0M of HCl and the phenolphthalein. Oh yes, while you’re over there, get me a ring stand, a butterfly clamp, a bottle of distilled water, and a stirring rod,” commanded the mage.
The apprentice did as she was told. After gathering the necessary materials, the mage quickly set the lab up. He handed the mortar and pestle to the apprentice and said,” Take one tablet of Tums and crush it in to find powder and put the powder into a beaker. When you have finished, clean the mortar and pestle thoroughly and do the same to the Gaviscan.”

xxPastel STARxx: After both tablets have been crushed and placed into different test tubes. The mage took the graduated cylinder and measured out 50 mL of distilled water and poured it into one beaker. As soon as the water was poured, the apprentice used the stirring rod to make a Tums solution. Then the mage measured out 50 mL of distilled water again and poured it in to the other beaker.
The apprentice cleaned the stirring rod and began to stir the other beaker with the Glaviscan solution.
“Sir, there is something wrong with this. Perhaps I did not crush the powder finely enough for there are big clumps of Glaviscan that float to the top and do not wish to be dissolved,” said the apprentice.
“Hmm…that is odd,” the mage stroked his chin, “Empty that out and re-crush the Glaviscan tablet. We shall try this solution again.”
And so they did. The apprentice made a super effort in order to make the tablet extra powdery. Even with that effort, the same result appeared again. The mage glanced at the clock, “We must continue with what we have. Time is running out.”
The mage brought the phenolphthalein to the lab table and put in four drops into both beakers. As he put in the four drops into the Tums solution, the apprentice noticed that the solution had turned pink.

xxPastel STARxx: She looked in her ancient alchemy book by Wilbraham, Staley, Simpson, and Matta. On page 446, figure 18-16, it stated that phenolphthalein would turn pink when the pH became 8 and above. The mage took the buret and handed it to his apprentice. She took the buret and listened to her mentor speak.
“Watch the solutions change color as you put in the HCl. Remember to put it in DROP by DROP,” said the mage. The apprentice hesitated to do so. The lab said to fill the HCl up to the zero line, but on the order form, it said that the quantity needed was 1.6 mL. Being the stupid apprentice that she was, she assumed that meant: put in 1.6 mL of HCl and used distilled water to fill the buret up to the zero line. Then, she put in the messed up HCl solution drop by drop. The evil black mage found out about his apprentice’s blunder and was ready to kill. But they still had to present their findings to the evil queen.
When the evil queen heard of the blunder, she let out a roar of rage! She ordered that both the mage and apprentice be beheaded with a blunt ax. The mage ran away but the apprentice was caught and met a slow and cruel death. The mage was caught soon after and met his end in the exact same manner.
Moral of the story: DON’T PROCRASTINATE >:o

TheMysteriousBox: .................................................................
xxPastel STARxx: you finished reading?
TheMysteriousBox: I once thought you had potential to be a chemistry major
xxPastel STARxx: shut up
xxPastel STARxx: i'm too stupid
TheMysteriousBox: this is going in my blog :P
xxPastel STARxx: Epilogue/results and conclusions/really unsuccessful attempt:

So that’s what happened to my lab. The ultimatum from the Queen symbolized my need to rush. The Evil Mage represented my logical side and his apprentice represented my stupid side which was rushing and was nearly dying of a heart attack. And the beheading in the end is probably going to be the one legged A that I will receive. However, I DO know what I did wrong, and if I had prepared EARLIER and if my head wasn’t clouded with panic, I wouldn’t have made such stupid mistakes. It’s too late to redo the lab, however, if in some parallel universe I am given the chance to redo the lab, I would know exactly what to do, and I wouldn’t have rushed myself into stupidity. It’s my fault for procrastinating and I’ll never ever do it again unless I’m forced to do so by gunpoint.

xxPastel STARxx: don't forget tot add the epilogue!
