Some EFZ Matches

Remember what EFZ was? :V

This game is so great but I have no one to talk about EFZ with anymore, so I'll just post on my blog. Basically failed wakeups are funny and Shiori is great, especially the one Shiori that went on a winning streak. Then Misaki Bot came and ruined the fun. Misaki :|

Well, I don't even really think this is very academia, it's just... interesting news for the day. :v

Beauty

http://news.sciencemag.org/brain-behavior/2015/10/why-beauty-eye-beholder

In summary it basically says environmental factors play a lot in the opinion of what's pretty. In a quote from the article:  "They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But whether the beholder’s opinion is a product of one's genes or one's environment has long been a question for scientists."

Well I mean, honestly, I'd be hard pressed to imagine all those otakus with body pillow waifus being genetically conditioned to love 2D girls only... :V

It does raise some issues as to whether things like gender preference is really something no one can control, or if its more because of what those persons experienced throughout their lifetime to have such a preference.

Insectivore

Solution - make an anime about eating bugs. What can possibly go wrong?!?

I can see it now - Shonen style, the search for the legendary bug ingredient, making even the most reluctant eater hungry for more bugs... yes...

Music Evolution

I would actually love to see this analysis on Anime idol related J-pop songs... What difference came in terms of the music? How did Love Live explode? Well maybe it didn't explode because of its music... :|

IMPORTANT RESEARCH.

...well, maybe. Look everyone, two letters makes a world of difference!

Egg Cube

http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0118624

This is really neat. Chick in a box! I kind of want to see if the embryo actually developed into a full chick though -- that, I think would have made the paper much more convincing.

This is like important information for everyone. :|

Blog Linking

Since people now actually read my twitter I removed the linking between twitter and my blog so that my twitter doesn't get filled up with blog post spams.

(People still don't read my blog though)

In other news it seems I moved from ( ・ 8 ・ )  to (o・∇・o) .

Paper on Submitting Papers

http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0115451

It seems kind of meta...

I find it quite amusing that one of the "optimal journals" to submit papers to is PloS ONE... the journal that got this paper accepted V:

Chewing Gum

http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0117191

...To think that people can publish a paper simply by doing tests on people chewing gum...

On the bright side, a possible alternative to flossing?!?
