NY Times article on Hardcore Otaku

Friend linked me to this. From an overall perspective I think this is somewhat interesting and a bit scary, not in that "omg those people are freaky get them away from me" but more like "its nice they can be so happy but I really hope I don't end up like them" type of scary. :V

But actually, what I was really interested in was two sentences near the end of the article:

"In March, Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology unveiled a 5-foot-2, 95-pound girl robot made “for entertainment purposes,” with an anime face and human proportions. The robot girl walked, batted her eyelashes and spoke basic Japanese."

WHAT? REALLY? I THINK I WANT TO GO WORK AT THIS PLACE NOW.

This calls for a google search.
